The Tuesday Soup And Movie Matinees Club | Newport
'It's what Tuesday afternoons were made for,' Stephen Spielberg

The good and friendly folk at Newport Memorial Hall are putting on a fabulous soup and movie matinee afternoon almost every Tuesday until February 24, showing a mix of classic and modern films.

Upcoming shows include the 1974 version of Murder on the Orient Express, a film almost bursting at the seams with such heavyweight old school stars like Lauren Bacall, Albert Finney, Ingrid Bergman, John Gielgud and Jacqueline Bisset. That's SIR John Gielgud to you and us.

Then from 1946, Frank Capra's eternally endearing, 'It's A Wonderful Life,' starring James Stuart, of course, along with Donna Reed.

The last screening before December break is the British romantic comedy Love Actually.

But, surely, the pick of the films before Christmas is yet another brilliant showing from the living legend that is Mr Ken Loach, never less than absolutely magnificent, as in this case with his 2012 work, the comedy drama, 'The Angels' Share.'

In short something for everyone.
